This logic is why the mcu is failing. They keep giving new characters the mantles of other characters and expecting that love to transfer over. But it's not.

Tchalla's son isn't tchalla. He didn't see his king father die while he failed to protect him, he didn't go through the arc during civil war, he never had his perspective changed by killmonger, he wasn't killed then brought back 5 years later, and he has no relationship with the characters tchalla did.

They could have easily tested her for COVID every day on set to ensure she wasn’t sick (although you would think vaccinated people would actually trust their vaccine to protect them).

Leticia, much like all young and healthy people faced no danger from the virus. The vaccine was simply a symptom reducer for high risk people. No science ever supported the mandate.

I don’t remember if it was you or another user that I discussed this with, so apologies if this is a duplicate, but this debate between Dave Smith and Chris Cuomo completely destroys the mainstream COVID narrative. This is the full 3 hour debate but you can find clips out there too. There is no way an intelligent person can still support this stuff in 2024. If even be nice if people who supported it at the time admitted they were wrong, asked for forgiveness, and agreed to never go along with something like that again. Vaccines absolutely slowed the spread and lessened the impact of infections. But yes, because so many young, healthy people refused vaccinations, vaccines were not as effective as they could have been.

Tests were less widely available at that time, but sure. But . . . did she ever actually get vaccinated? She never said she did. I always just assumed the falderal was more about her sharing anti-vax videos, not her refusal to take the shot herself. She and Evangeline Lilly just kept on working.

There is a long history of vaccine mandates in the US, and outside of a few fringe holistic health folks, it's never mattered to anyone until very recently. Because they work, and protect public health. But, yeah, that ship has sailed, and now we have reached the point we would have reached eventually anyway, where COVID is, essentially, a seasonal bug (albeit one with potential long-lasting impacts on cognitive and cardiovascular fitness.)

Leticia did, however, pose a danger to older, less healthy people that needed to go to work on that movie's set, including some that could not receive a vaccine due to underlying conditions.

Not sure which mandate you're referring to. There was never a blanket mandate. Some states and businesses made the choice to institute mandates, but that's just the invisible hand at work, baby. There were some federal, state, and healthcare workers that were required to be vaccinated, but, again, what else is new?

And, again, the science didn't have time to catch up. Things were moving very quickly, and millions of people died. One of my oldest friends had to retire from his landscaping business because he developed rheumatoid arthritis and cognitive impairments following a COVID infection. My brother-in-law ended up with a neurological disorder that made it feel like his feet were on fire, that took years for him to mostly recover from. We STILL don't know what the longterm health effects will be.

But, hey, it's all over now. The public has been turned against vaccines completely following the misinformation and disinformation spread during the COVID pandemic, so we can add the rampant spread of preventable diseases to the long list of things that historians will look back on when describing how we entered the new Dark Age. Fortunately, I'll be dead by then, and I don't have any kids, so [frick] it. Do whatever you want, man.

And absolutely no. Nobody faced any different danger from being around an unvaccinated person than a vaccinated person. Your vaccine supposedly protects you. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated can spread. Natural immunity is stronger than vaccine immunity. Everyone isn’t sick all the time. Geez there are just so many holes in the argument you are making.

Let’s all be happy for the things that ended this madness - Omicron being the least dangerous variant yet in early 2022 and a large enough portion of the population (vaxxed and not) who had natural immunity which lessened the danger. Would have been a much lower death count if the world hadn’t gone full fascist on 2020 which increased deaths. The easiest way to confirm this is to compare all cause excess deaths from counties that had high restrictions and low restrictions.

The low restriction country of Sweden had fewer excess deaths than the most fascist response on Earth outside of China which was Australia.

Fewer total people died in no lockdown Sweden than full on quarantine camp and have to have a pass to leave your house Australia. There is really no debate to be had here. All the data and evidence shows it was a completely disaster. There is no supporting this stuff at this point. And the greatest purveyors of misinformation during that time were governments, health authorities, corporate media, and giant tech companies who all peddled fear, pushed fascist policies, and killed far more people than they saved.

@mountainman - Eh, didn't see much of anyone attacking anyone for making a choice to not take a vaccine ever, not saying there wasn't any of that at all but...

...what tended to cause visceral reactions was folk openly spreading what was at least percieved as disinformation that was counter productive to public health, that is not the same as attacking someone for the choice they made but only critiquing what and how they say things.

The mandate line is overblown however as there wasn't one, just some specific temp limitations in what you could do in some areas if you made the choice not to take a vaccine in order to try and mitigate spread of a deadly virus.

That isnt something new and has oft occured as in order to work for the NHS 40yrs ago you were contractualy required to have certain vaccines unless medical grounds for not being able to and the military also has oft required specific vaccinations but even then there is free choice cos just don't become a Nurse or a Squadie if unwilling to meet requirements of service.
